“Problem, officer?”

~ Vito Scaletta on the police force

Vittorio Antonio "Vito" Scaletta (born May 2nd, 1925) was an Italian-American gangster in the Empire Bay underworld who became a made member of the Falcone crime family.

Born in San Martino, Sicily into a very poor family, Vito longed for a better life for him and his relatives, and because of this he decided to live a life of crime along with his best friend Joe Barbaro, a bully whom he met at school. They were thick as thieves, both literally and figuratively, as they trusted each other in every antic that they commit.

In 1943 Vito and Joe attempted to rob a jewelry store, only to be caught in the act by a police officer. The two ran away, but, while Joe escaped, Vito was caught. As Vito was of Sicilian descent and had an obvious understanding of Italian, he was given the choice of serving the Army in its campaign to liberate Italy. He was then drafted into the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment that served in the liberation of Sicily, codenamed Operation Husky.

Vito soon found out that his dad fucked up and had an Xbox-huge debt to a loan shark, and he was soon forced to earn money by any means possible, even if it meant that he had to work with the mob.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Vito was, in most ways, a man of few words, and was the polar opposite of his friend Joe, who was a bit more brash and careless. While he does show no remorse at killing people, he holds up to his principles and ideals, and shows some sympathy to his friends and colleagues, even if it led him to a series of unfortunate events that cost the lives of some of his buddies and led himself to jail.
